My flight home would leave next morning from Kansai airport, so I returned to Osaka for the last night in Japan. I arrived to Osaka in the afternoon, and then spent the rest of the day buying souvenirs. Then, after I had unloaded my shopping bags to my hotel room, I went to take some last photos from Japan. This time my hotel was in a middle of narrow but busy and chaotic streets in Sennichimae district. My previous hotel in Osaka was not far from here, but the feel of the area was completely different. It's so small, I couldn't figure out a way to fit it all in one frame, because I couldn't go back far enough. On the upside, I was 10 stories up, and had a great view. I could even open up the window and get some fresh air in. However, the construction work in this area was still under way. Too bad. Matsuzakaya Department Store in Ueno-hirokoji May 30, 2009 at 10:30 am ykanazawa1999 posted a photo: The buildings connected by bridges in the picture are the main building and the south building of a department store called Ueno Matsuzakaya. It is common structure of department stores in Japan. Since large selling space often occupies more than two blocks, it is divided into a few buildings connected with bridges. I do not know if this is common in other countries. Another sample of bridges connecting department store buildings is shown in "Tamagawa Takashimaya White Bridges ".
